Homeopathy
What is homeopathy?
Homeopathic medicine is a natural, non-toxic therapeutic system that uses minute amounts of plant, animal and chemical substances to stimulate the body’s innate healing ability.  It is based on the treatment principle of “like cures like.”  Every homeopathic medicine treats a differing variety of specific health concerns.  Your naturopathic doctor, after discussing your health concerns and what affects them, will match the most appropriate remedy to your specific concerns.

How can homeopathy help me?
A homeopathic medicine attempts to restore the body to a state of healthy balance.  Homeopathy as a therapeutic system assumes that you and your experience of the world around you make you unique.  Therefore, it includes your physical health concerns, as well as your mental and emotional characteristics in any given remedy.  This allows your naturopathic doctor to stimulate the body’s own healing capabilities and treat patients on a physical, mental and emotional level at the same time.

Are homeopathic remedies safe?
Homeopathic remedies are made from minute quantities of various substances.  They are non-toxic and when properly administered by a trained practitioner, can be safely used with infants, children, adults, and during pregnancy.  However, please consult with your naturopathic doctor or homeopath to ensure the right remedy is being used at the right dose to be most effective for your health concerns.

Homeopathic remedies are not known to interfere with your medications, however it is always important to discuss all of your remedies and medications with your health care providers.  People should only be taking a homeopathic medicine for a limited time and only when the person is experiencing a very specific set of symptoms for which the remedy is indicated.  If these symptoms disappear, it is not necessary to take the homeopathic medicine any longer.  If the symptoms change, it may be necessary to take a different remedy that more accurately fits the new set of symptoms.
